History and Governing Documents
NVMGMA has been the premier association for medical group practice managers in Nevada since its inception in 1988. Established in Reno and operating statewide, the organization still has many of its original founding members. An affiliate of national MGMA, NVMGMA has provided education, information, advocacy and networking to its members for more than 28 years.
Over the years NVMGMA established a Board of Officers that includes members from Northern Nevada and Southern Nevada. Although one State Association, the geographic challenges our State experiences created an opportunity for the North and South to each provide educational opportunities to meet the needs of both regions members.in 2016, NVMGMA established a Southern Nevada Steering Committee, which will serve as the eyes and ears for Southern Nevada members and issues.
Practice managers from various physician groups and specialties have served on the NVMGMA Board and volunteered much of their time to make NVMGMA the first class association it is today. In addition, NVMGMA has provided an opportunity for NVMGMA leaders to participate and become leaders in national MGMA.
NVMGMA currently sponsors regularly-scheduled education and networking opportunities in both regions of the State. In addition, State members gather for an annual State conference in Reno each year in the Spring, with nationally-renown speakers covering topics in the MGMA Body of Knowledge.
NV MGMA is also one of four co-sponsors of the annual Nevada Health Care Forum, which meets in the Fall of each year in Las Vegas Each year, the Nevada Health Care Forum brings together many of Nevada’s health care leaders to cover a broad range of health care topics including the national impact of health care reform and evolution in the industry.
Nevada MGMA is planning for the future to continually meet the needs of medical group practice managers. NVMGMA recognizes the challenges practice managers experience every day and are committed to provide members the tools needed to keep up in the ever-changing health care world.
